Portrait of a Pioneer Woman, American School, C. 1845. Original oil painting, unsigned in its original gilded frame in the style of Philadelphia and Baltimore portrait artists of the early 1800's.
The canvas is in good condition apart from some minor surface blemishes. The period Sully cove frame is also in good condition as per age and retains its original gilt finish. If you're looking for a lost ancestral portrait, you've found it! (And if we knew who painted this portrait it would cost a lot more.) Compare to American portrait painters Thomas Scully, Rubens Peale, John Neagle, and John Wesley Jarvis.
