Exceptionally decorative in … Read more An impressive pair of monumental patinated bronze sculptures depicting exotic parrots perched upon naturalistically modeled tree branches. Exceptionally decorative in scale, each bird is rendered with extensive sculptural detail, from the individually articulated plumage and elongated tail feathers to the powerful curved beaks, expressive eyes and textured feet grasping the branches.

The supporting trunks are modeled as stylized trees terminating in dramatically spreading root-form bases, allowing the sculptures to stand independently while maintaining an organic, almost architectural silhouette. The two parrots are presented in complementary poses, creating a particularly striking composition when displayed together.

The bronze surfaces retain a beautifully aged variegated patina with shades of deep green, verdigris, brown and dark bronze. The natural variation of the surface accentuates the feather work and gives the pair considerable depth and character.

At approximately 54 inches high, these are unusually large-scale parrot sculptures and make a commanding decorative statement. Their substantial proportions would work particularly well flanking an entrance, fireplace or console, or as sculptural focal points in a conservatory, garden room, grand foyer or eclectic contemporary interior.
