An early circa 1900's English (Chinese Export) lacquered games box and tray. It is handcrafted of papier mache and beautifully hand inlaid with mother-of-pearl and abalone shell. The gaming counters are used for games such as bezique, piquet, poker, whist, quadrille, and spinado This lovely piece is also perfect used as a vanity tray catch-all or for a desk organizer. We've only seen one other tray and box like this. It's a rare find!
There are 13 round, 7 shorter rectangular, and 16 long rectangular ones. We purchased the box and counters in England and understand that they are made of bone.
Dimensions: Tray is 9.25"L x 7"W and 2.25"H with the boxes. The boxes each measure 3.5"L x 2.5"w x 2"H.
