Hand knotted in high-quality wool, the mesmeric black, beige, and brown medallions continue into other in an almost fluid, clearly intentional continuous drawing, mirrored with sole vertical symmetry since this portrait is shifted slightly so that the complete picture disappears into the intricate innermost border. Accented by floral depictions in the continuing outer borders with other geometric cloud band symbols, this Khotan’s pattern is seldom-seen even among midcentury counterparts. See less
