Clyde Burt Glazed Stoneware Bowl, 1965c.
Materials: Glazed stoneware
Dimensions: 4.5" H × 15.5" Diameter
Signature: Incised artist's initials “CB” to underside.
A striking mid-century modern ceramic bowl by American studio potter Clyde Burt, circa 1965.
This generously proportioned, low-profile bowl features a rich black-glazed interior contrasted with an earthy exterior decorated with incised geometric patterns. Interlocking diamond and triangular forms are articulated in warm ochre, rust, amber, and muted gray glazes, creating a rhythmic abstract composition around the circumference.
The bowl's broad, shallow form and restrained architectural geometry exemplify Burt's distinctive approach to studio ceramics, combining functional vessel forms with expressive surface decoration.
Signed “CB” to the underside.
An excellent example of American mid-century studio pottery, equally compelling as a sculptural centerpiece on a dining or coffee table.
