A refined pair of minimalist Swedish side tables, executed in solid pine by a Swedish cabinetmaker during the 1940s and designed in the manner of Axel Einar Hjorth.

The tables display a restrained, architectural clarity characteristic of Hjorth’s furniture from the period, with well-balanced proportions and an emphasis on material honesty. The solid Swedish pine surfaces have developed a deep, dark patina with a warm natural glow, enhancing the grain and lending quiet presence to the otherwise austere forms.

Both tables have recently received a careful application of oil, refreshing the surface while preserving the integrity and character of the original wood.

Presented in good vintage condition, this pair offers versatility as side or occasional tables and stands as a strong example of Swedish functional craftsmanship from the 1940s.
