Stanley J. Krupa was a well-known Mohawk Valley artist whose work was influenced by Abstract Expressionism and painters like Mark Rothko and Arshile Gorky. His paintings explore color, movement, and emotion in a bold yet thoughtful style.
He also owned his own gallery, the Steuben Park Art Gallery in Utica, New York, and his work is found in galleries and private collections around the world.
This 1986 original gouache by Stanley J. Krupa shows an abstract landscape in green and black with a round sun or moon. His loose brushstrokes give it energy and a calm, natural feel. Signed and dated, it’s a striking example of his abstract work.
