Morris (1865-1924) features sheep in a highland landscape. The center of the composition is occupied by two sheep engaged in eating plants from the rocks depicted on the right side. The tan color of their coat contrasts beautifully with the green vegetation. Further away on the left side, two other members of the flock seem to be looking at the distant mountain. A beautiful cloudy sky finishes the composition. Painted in the 19th century, this oil on canvas has been cleaned, revealing the beauty of the artist’s colors. Set in a carved vertical giltwood frame and signed on the lower left, this English oil on canvas painting would make a stunning decorative accent on any wall. See less
