This model represents one of the earliest examples of modern bentwood furniture, featuring a distinctive quadrangular construction and refined geometric language that anticipates early 20th-century design. It was produced by Kohn from around 1899 and is documented in period catalogues.

The design has historically been associated with the Viennese Secession movement and has occasionally been attributed to Otto Wagner; however, current research supports attribution to Gustav Siegel within the Kohn workshop.

Each chair features strong architectural lines, curved armrests, and the characteristic slatted backrest. The underside retains the original Jacob & Josef Kohn stamp, along with traces of the original paper label.

The set has been professionally restored, with refinished frames and later leather upholstery showing light, even wear. Structurally sound and ready for use.

Provenance: Acquired together with two matching Vienna Secession bentwood tables—a rare square centre table and a companion round dining table—from the same private Viennese household.
