The lid is decorated with two … Read more This refined 1948 solid wood chest, finely hand-carved, is attributed to fine Italian cabinetmaking. The lid is decorated with two facing mythological creatures (chimeras or dragons) surrounded by an elaborate frieze of acanthus leaves, complemented by curved sides with floral motifs and a sturdy base with lion's paw feet. The base is engraved with the name of the artist "Nello" and the date "1948." Preserved in excellent vintage condition, it is structurally intact and enhanced by a deep, original glossy patina that highlights the carving's reliefs.
