The strictly proportioned, rounded form with its narrow opening demonstrates the clear, minimalist aesthetic of her early work in the 1950s.

The continuous, hand-etched sgraffito frieze with graphically stylized fish motifs precisely exposes the lighter-colored ceramic body and forms a striking contrast to the matte, dark blue engobe.

This controlled, serene surface treatment is exemplary of Wittich-Großkurth's early post-war modernism, before her work became more figurative and playful in later decades.
