Lovely set of 7 Iconic Dakota Jackson Vik-Ter chairs in Eggplant.
The Vik-Ter Chair holds a legendary status in the design community due to a perfect storm of technical innovation, historical timing, and distinct geometry. It has Biomorphic & Postmodern (Memphis Style) Geometry: Visually, the chair is striking for its interplay of sharp and organic lines. It features a slender, black welded-steel frame, a wide trapezoidal seat, and a distinctive, gently arcing circular backrest. It was prized for its award-winning sustainability long before green design became a standard industry requirement. This focus earned it the prestigious Silver Award for Environmental Design at the 1992 Industrial Design Excellence Awards. It has a museum-grade legacy: The design bridged the gap between commercial contract furniture and high art. It was so rapidly recognized for its impact on American design that it was immediately acquired into the permanent collections of institutions like the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York.

Although structurally sound (and probably will be for the next 50 years), the eggplant finish has losses and scuffs. There are a few areas of missing finish. Please see close up images. These chairs, when originally manufactured, had a paper label under the seats. This set retains none of those paper labels but upon close examination they have all of the hallmarks of the Dakota Jackson originals that were manufactured in Queens. less
