Expressive majolica vase by Martha Katzer (1897-1946) for the Karlsruhe Majolica Manufactory, produced according to a design from the 1940s.
The softly rounded, almost spherical form is enhanced by an extraordinary, high-gloss gradient glaze in celadon green, iron brown, and metallic graphite gray.
Fine, shimmering iron oxide nuances, the organically shaped opening, and the atmospheric color effect lend the object depth and a distinctive, sculptural presence.
