Josef Hospodka Sommerso Art Glass Vase Duo for Chřibská Glassworks, Czechoslovakia, 1960s
A beautiful pair of hand-blown art glass vases designed by Josef Hospodka for the historic Chřibská Glassworks during the 1960s. Executed in richly layered sommerso glass, the duo perfectly captures the expressive forms and vibrant colour combinations that established Hospodka as one of the leading figures of post-war Czech glass design.
The two vases complement one another through contrasting proportions while sharing the same flowing design language. Folded organic rims, softly asymmetrical silhouettes, and suspended layers of cobalt blue, rose pink, and clear crystal create an ever-changing play of light and colour, transforming each vase into a sculptural object even when displayed without flowers.
