This striking, conceptually driven piece features a heavily modeled, expressionistic clenched human fist wearing a highly detailed wristwatch. The sculpture serves as a brilliant, tactile modernist commentary on Andy Warhol's famous Pop Art adage regarding fleeting cultural celebrity.

The hollow underside of the cast features deeply incised artist documentation directly in the bronze: "15 MINUTES OF FAME / H. SIMON / 1995 / 1/3 ED." As the very first casting from an incredibly small edition of only three pieces, this sculpture is an elite find for fine art collectors, avant-garde interior designers, and corporate or residential gallery spaces.

About the artist: Herbert Simon (b. 1927) is an American sculptor and printmaker who taught in the art department at Wilkes University from 1969–1992. A student of Hans Hofmann, Robert Motherwell, and Philip Guston, his work bridges the New York School and academic structuralism. His monumental public commissions are permanently installed at major regional landmarks, including the 'Facets' aluminum installation at Wilkes University, the 'Aloft' sculpture at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and civic plazas across Pennsylvania. This piece was consigned by the artist and acquired through a local auction house. See less
