A friend was struggling with drug addiction. When I spoke to him, I could hear the confusion in his voice and see the pain in his eyes — he was fighting to find himself again. That moment stayed with me. The hands in the painting represent both restraint and rescue: the tension between wanting to control the situation and realizing that some battles must be fought from within.The wide eyes and open mouth echo the inner scream of someone caught between worlds: clarity and chaos, life and loss. Through this piece, I wanted to capture the raw emotion of watching someone you love fight their demons, praying that light reaches them before it’s too late.
