The cover rests on a square black-glazed base raised on four spherical turquoise feet, giving the piece an unusual architectural presence.

The combination of geometric forms, expressive figuration, saturated glaze, and intentionally irregular hand-worked surfaces gives the piece a strong Postmodern and contemporary folk-art character. The underside is incised “Bourbeau 9/25,” identifying it as number 9 from a limited edition of 25.
