On the Design:

Khotan rugs, originating from the oasis towns of East Turkestan along the ancient Silk Road, are celebrated for their unique synthesis of Chinese, Tibetan, and Islamic design traditions. This remarkable antique carpet exemplifies that rich cultural crossroads, showcasing a distinct, spacious visual language. This piece features the classic pomegranate vase motif; an ancient symbol of fertility and abundance, rendered with striking geometric clarity.

The true magic of this carpet lies in its architectural drafting and textural patina. The tonal beige-brown field provides a quiet canvas for the branching pomegranate trees, allowing the stylized fruit and rigid vines to command the vertical space in perfect symmetry. This central iconography is elegantly framed by meandering geometric borders that seamlessly echo the rhythm of the field. The time-earned patina of the wool softens the linear layout, imparting a soulful charm that makes this piece a highly collectible foundation for classic and contemporary interiors.
