Mould-blown in amber glass that deepens toward the rim and fades to near-clear at the foot, all four faces are worked with vertical rifts and a frost-like surface that reads as rising flame - a rugged, molten texture held inside a strict architectural form. The thick base is left smooth and clear, so the vase seems to lift off the surface it stands on.

The piece retains its original Kumela "Handmade in Finland" factory label.

Kumela was founded in Riihimäki in 1933 and was absorbed by Humppila in 1976 - Liekki belongs to the last independent decade of one of Finland's great glass houses. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
