This design … Read more Restored three-tier mahogany occasional table by Edward Wormley, Model 4423, produced by Dunbar in Indiana c. late 1940s. This design bears striking resemblance to a Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb two-tier mahogany side table from the same period.

The design works well with mid century and Asian-influenced interiors. Up close, the horizontal beam passing through the vertical posts resembles the projecting tie beams and bracket arms seen in Japanese temples and Chinese halls, and traditional gates. From further away the table’s three tiers evoke the staggered outcroppings of pagoda architecture.

The table has been expertly refinished and shows beautifully despite nearly 80 years of use. Touchups were performed during refinishing, primarily at the corners. See less
