Dark spot is a natural occurrence for wood knots which contain high concentrations of tree sap which darken and oxidize over time compared to the surrounding wood. The original finish remains beautifully intact, preserving the piece’s historical integrity and charm. The workshop inspected the entire piece and identified a few small, round holes confined to the tabletop, with none on the base. There are no visible signs of active powderpost beetle activity, fresh powder debris, or compromised wood. The holes appear to be historical in nature. Aggressive chemical or hot steam treatments have been avoided to preserve the original finish and patina. The tilt-top mechanism is fully functional, and the table features tight, sturdy joinery less
