The whole form radiates from a dark amber pool at the centre outward into ribbed, icicle-like rays that thin to water-clear at the rim, where the edge is left raw and serrated. Held up to the light the colour burns orange through the middle and the ribs throw a fan of shadows across the table - the effect the series was named for.

The original Humppila foil label is still in place.

Humppila was founded in 1952 by the Helander brothers, former glassblowers at Nuutajärvi. Revontulet ran at Humppila from 1972 to 1987 — fifteen years in production, in bowls, vases and candleholders.

Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or flea bites; the serrated rim and radiating ribs are complete throughout. The original Humppila foil label is intact. Light base wear consistent with age and display use. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
