Description:
Presenting a beautifully hand-carved vintage Chinese Wooden Fish (Muyu) crafted from solid, high-quality Boxwood (Huangyangmu). This piece has achieved a spectacular, rich, dark reddish-brown patina through years of handling, making it exceptionally smooth to the touch.

The Muyu features a delightful, continuous carved motif on its side, depicting a Lotus flower and vines, a classic Chinese symbol of purity and continuous prosperity (连连高升). The slit at the bottom produces the traditional hollow, resonant sound when struck.

It comes complete with its original matching wooden mallet (敲棒), which is also carved from Boxwood and features a smooth, teardrop-shaped head. The mallet rests perfectly across the top curve of the Muyu. See less
