The so-called "disaster wardrobe" is an emblematic piece of furniture from the reconstruction program launched after the second world war. Designed by the french designer rené gabriel at the request of the ministry of reconstruction, it was part of the "emergency furniture" intended to refurnish destroyed homes at a symbolic price in ration coupons.
