Fantastic and rare example of Selina Trieff’s art consisting of a a wooden pedestal with figures of a person painted on four sides and finished with gold leaf accents.

Selina Trieff (1934 – January 14, 2015) was a prominent American expressionist artist and painter celebrated for her distinctive, enigmatic portraits that blended autobiography with myth. Termed an "American original" by The New York Times, she created a deeply personal style centered around the complexities of the human condition. Trieff was known for employing gold-leaf framing, monochromatic tones, and heavy oil paints. She painted hauntingly beautiful, androgynous human figures dressed in timeless costumes, which she viewed as "archetypal pilgrims". Her work has been showcased widely across the US and Europe, including solo exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum and the Riverside Art Museum. Her artwork lives on in at least 20 permanent public collections, including the New York Public Library and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum.
