This guy, the Boxer, painted by NYC artist Greg Decker, seems to be emerging from rock, fighting his way forward and wearing red. He is breaking through and making space in the world. It reminds me of someone I loved. Very interesting colors — just unusual and very cool. Greg Decker has a rather mystical viewpoint calling himself a Symbolist Painter, infusing his paintings with layers and metaphors. Interesting transplanted American artist, spending his youth in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This piece was purchased in Asheville, NC. Decker painted this beginning in 1999 and finished it or added to it in 2017, honoring the art critic John Berger upon his death. His name is written vertically on the left bottom section of the painting.
