It … Read more An American art pottery pedestal attributed to Weller's Blended Majolica line, made in Zanesville, Ohio in the early 1900s. It wears deep oxblood-red panels tipped in cream over a treacle-brown ground, with a boldly striped flaring foot; the hand-dipped glaze runs and pools the way no reproduction gets right. Unmarked, as most Blended pieces are.

The round jardiniere that sits on top is an associated antique piece, not original to the pedestal — glazed in a glossy near-black that breaks warm brown where the light catches it — and the two have clearly lived together a long time. They are sold as the pair.

Very good antique condition, with bright glaze on both pieces and the minor age wear you'd expect. Stand it in a bay window or an entry with a fern spilling over the top, or leave it empty and let the color and the height do the work. See less
