These are surviving fragments from a traditional timber-framed structure, dating to circa 1920. What makes them exceptional is the surface: the original mineral-based polychrome pigments have faded over a century, but they have not disappeared — they have soaked into the wood itself. This is not a surface treatment that can be replicated. It is a patina that only time could produce.

Mounted on solid wood backplates with a 3cm floating gap, the pair is ready to hang with pre-installed hardware. The openwork carving casts delicate shadows against the light surface, bringing depth to any wall.
