The painting is signed or monogrammed in the lower right with an unidentified circular artist’s insignia/initials.

The work has a particularly appealing old-world appearance, with extensive natural craquelure throughout the painted surface and considerable evidence of age. The canvas appears to have some age-related shrinkage/tension and surface irregularity. I would leave the painting exactly as found rather than attempting to clean or restore it.

Housed in an impressive, very deep antique gilt composition/wood frame with elaborate molded ornamentation. The frame itself is a significant part of the presentation and measures approximately 4 inches deep. It retains an aged gold surface with expected chipping, losses, rubbing, cracking and general wear consistent with its age. The reverse shows old wood construction and considerable age.
