A handsome and unusually long Italian Baroque-style walnut library table, featuring a substantial rectangular plank top above a three-drawer frieze. The drawers are embellished with shaped, molded panels retaining traces of warm gilt decoration and fitted with simple round metal pulls. A carved repeating pendant or dentil-style border runs beneath the apron, adding architectural detail without overwhelming the table's rustic character.
The table is raised on four robust turned walnut legs, joined by a substantial H-form stretcher and terminating in turned feet. The warm, time-softened walnut surface displays attractive variation in tone, visible grain, knots, old marks, and wear consistent with age and use.
At nearly 80 inches wide, the table has excellent scale and could function beautifully as a library table, console, writing table, oversized entry table, or narrow dining/serving table. Its relatively shallow 23.25-inch depth makes the scale particularly useful for interior design applications.
