“Klaus Neuper’s painted worlds unfold on the one hand on the canvas, and on the other hand, through impasto mixed media techniques and relief-like engravings, they suggest a creative bridge to real and three-dimensional space. For in his layering and glazing techniques, and through the graphic method he employs—etching linear drawings into the still-wet paint with a brush—Neuper’s art reminds us of the mixed media technique of so-called mural paintings, as created before him by important painters such as Willi Baumeister, Joan Miró, and Antonio Tàpies” (Gerhard Kolberg).
