Magnificent, authentic Chinese Republic Period (c. 1920s–1930s) Famille Rose "Four Seasons" porcelain table lamp.


The quadrangular baluster-shaped vase features exceptionally fine, delicate, and meticulously detailed hand-painted enamel panels celebrating the traditional floral emblems of the four seasons: the winter plum blossom, spring peony, summer lotus, and autumn chrysanthemum.


The vase has been beautifully converted into a statement lighting fixture and paired with a dramatic, custom black silk square pagoda lampshade that perfectly mirrors the lamp's architectural footprint. This striking combination is a staple of high-end Hollywood Regency, Grandmillennial, and traditional British Colonial interior design.


Unlike modern mass-produced factory reproductions or Western Chinoiserie imitations, this porcelain vase features a beautiful, genuine "orange peel" glaze texture (ju pi), which occurs naturally during traditional wood-fired kiln processes.


The highly refined Famille Rose enamels sit slightly raised on the surface of the soft, milky-white glaze, giving the intricate floral scenes exceptional depth and texture that you can feel.


The Four Seasons Narrative Panels:

Winter/Spring: Radiant yellow plum blossoms blooming on a gnarled branch with an accompanying songbird.

Summer: A tranquil lotus pond scene complete with a delicate dragonfly and meticulous botanical stalk detailing.

Autumn: Multi-petaled pink chrysanthemums braving the frost next to a perched songbird.

Year-Round Integrity: Lush pink peony blossoms representing wealth and prosperity, paired with slender bamboo stalks symbolizing strength.

The upper shoulder and lower neck are framed by elegant turquoise-ground bands decorated with pink florets and stylized ruyi cloud motifs.

The porcelain is elevated by an open-work, pierced dark wood base and is capped with aged brass hardware displaying a natural, authentic patina.

To complete the look, the lamp comes paired with a dramatic shantung pagoda black fabric lampshade that perfectly anchors the dark wood base and allows the vibrant floral enamel colors to stand out, crowned with an incredibly rare, intricate molded square celluloid rose finial, carved with elaborate petals and leaves, on a pique background.
