made by the royal porcelain manufactory of meissen during the knauf period, second half of the 19th century, approximately 1860–1890.

the composition depicts a charming pastoral scene with a young barefoot shepherdess carrying a large wicker basket of fruit, accompanied by a seated young shepherd and a lamb.

the naturalistic base is embellished with flowers, leaves, and bunches of grapes applied in relief. It features extraordinary polychrome enameling overglaze and delicate gilt details.

marked on the reverse with the crossed swords of meissen in blue underglaze from the knauf period and the historical model number “c41” incised into the porcelain, in addition to internal manufacturer's serial numbers.
