An authentic, vintage hand-signed plaster sculpture by the acclaimed American satirical artist Charles Bragg (1931–2017).
This compelling figurative piece beautifully illustrates Bragg’s signature style, capturing an expressive, characterful figure depicting an elder, cleric, or rabbi. The sculpture showcases a highly detailed, deeply textured ornate headdress and a draped robe accented with a sculpted flower medallion.
Cast in heavy plaster/ceramic bisque, the sculpture features a beautifully applied dark antiqued wash that enhances the dramatic lines and deep relief details of the work. The unglazed white casting medium is visible on the underside, displaying Charles Bragg's clear, authentic handwritten signature. A wonderful statement piece for a library shelf, study, or mid-century modern vignette.
CONDITION:
Good vintage condition with beautiful aged character. In keeping with its vintage age and the nature of the medium, there are a few minor, cosmetic surface chips and scuffs along the rim of the headdress and light wear around the base as shown in the photos. Displays beautifully.
