This beautifully crafted large rectangular box features a rich, dark reddish-brown wood grain (described as old-stock Rosewood / Sandalwood style) and is heavily decorated with intricate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay. The craftsmanship is highly detailed, showcasing traditional Chinese motifs:
The Top: Features a central scene of a Magpie perched on a blooming Plum Blossom branch, alongside a vibrant Peony. In Chinese culture, the magpie symbolizes good news and joy, while the peony represents prosperity and honor. The shell inlay reflects light with subtle iridescent colors.
