An impressive oversized Mid-Century Modern ceramic lamp with a heavily textured charcoal-black surface decorated with bold abstract cream, burgundy and muted purple glaze applications.

The form, scale and expressive surface treatment are strongly reminiscent of Italian studio pottery associated with designers such as Marcello Fantoni. The lamp is unsigned and is being offered as Fantoni style / Italian studio pottery rather than represented as a signed Fantoni work.

The scale and decoration give the lamp a strong sculptural presence even without a shade. The surface has a deliberately rough, almost volcanic texture combined with broad painterly glaze applications typical of high-quality Italian Modernist ceramics of the period.

The underside retains its original green felt and House of Italy, Portland, Oregon label. The felt was loose when acquired and has been carefully reglued. The ceramic base was inspected while the felt was loose and no signature or additional manufacturer's mark was found.

Condition: Very good vintage condition overall with expected age-related surface wear and minor marks. No major cracks or significant structural damage have been found. Brass-tone hardware shows normal oxidation and patina from age.

The lamp retains its existing socket and wiring. As with any vintage lighting, inspection by a qualified electrician is recommended prior to regular use.

Please note: Although the design bears strong stylistic similarities to work by Marcello Fantoni and other important Italian Mid-Century ceramic designers, the lamp is unsigned and no definitive maker attribution is being made.
