The piece features … Read more A beautifully patinated cast bronze metal frog drum, rain drum, or side drink table from Southeast Asia. The piece features a broad circular top measuring nearly 2 feet wide. The top is decorated with distinctive concentric rings having an engraved geometric banding and a central starburst medallion. The top sits above a tapering, drum-form body articulated with horizontal registers of incised geometric banding and subtle leaf and stem accents rising from the base. The silhouette is completed by sculptural ring handles and small animal head accents around the body. The sides are decorated with small elephants in a row. The top is smooth without decorative frogs making the table a perfect candidate for a glass top. The bronze has an attractive aged and oxidized blue-green verdigris patina on the finish. Typically from east Burma or Myanmar, the piece is functionally versatile, well-suited for use as a side table, drinks table, stool, pedestal, or accent piece. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
