Likely constructed in the … Read more A substantial two-piece Neoclassical garden finial ornament on pedestal crafted out of beautifully weathered cast stone. Likely constructed in the late 19th century/early 20th century, the piece is constructed with an urn-form body crowned by a sculpted blossom finial. The body is constructed with a gadrooned rope-twist border, tapering downwards in a waisted form to a broad plinth base. The ornament is raised on a separate architectural plinth pedestal featuring panels carved with a stylized quatrefoil rosette. The surface has developed a beautifully weathered surface over time with a rich variegated patina. Crafted in a Neoclassical style, likely originally used to crown a wall or gate, the ornament is well-suited for use indoors or outdoors as a sculptural accent piece. The top piece measures 24" tall and the bottom measures 16" tall for a total height of 44". From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
