Each elephant is mounted on an L-shaped wooden bookend and decorated with extensive hand-inlaid bone detailing.

The elephants feature especially intricate saddlecloth designs composed of scrolling vines, stylized flowers, leaves, dots, and geometric forms. Additional bone inlay accents the heads, eyes, feet, tusks, and wooden bases. The warm cream-colored inlay creates a dramatic contrast against the richly colored dark hardwood.

Unlike many comparable elephant bookends with limited decoration, this pair retains its elaborate bone inlay and intact tusks. The elephants face in opposing directions, forming a coordinated pair suitable for a library, office, console, or collected global interior.
