A vintage Chinese carved hardwood table screen, circular in form and mounted on an ornate openwork stand. The central field bears a high-relief profile portrait in the official "worker-cap" image style associated with mid-20th-century Chinese political memorabilia, encircled by raised calligraphic inscriptions in the period's commemorative idiom.
Design details:
- The circular panel is framed by a continuous **meander (Greek-key / huiwen) border.
- Radiating from the portrait are two bands of raised Chinese characters characteristic of 1960s–70s commemorative objects ("long live" formula and "serve the people" motto).
- The panel rests on a **pierced hardwood stand** carved with paired phoenix / scrolling-bird motifs above a shaped, waisted base with ruyi-cloud corners; the front apron is inscribed with the matching "serve the people" motto.
- The warm honey-brown hardwood shows a fine, visible grain and a smooth, aged patina.
