Titled “The Chemist,” the work captures an atmospheric row of old storefronts, including the beautifully rendered L.J. Leeson Son & Burdon Chemists façade.

The architectural detail is exceptional, from the leaded shop windows and Tudor-style timbering to the tiny bottles and objects displayed inside the chemist’s window. Select areas have been delicately hand colored in muted blue, green, burgundy and earthy tones, giving the otherwise monochromatic etching subtle depth and character.

This is a particularly scarce impression, number 6 of an edition of only 25, with an additional five artist proofs noted on the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity.

The artwork is pencil titled “The Chemist” at lower left, numbered 6/25 at center, and pencil signed Victoria A. Elbroch at lower right.
