The chairs feature … Read more Beautiful pair of Danish lounge chairs designed by Alfred Christensen for Slagelse Møbelværk, dating from the 1940s.

The chairs feature an elegant and highly sculptural form, with gracefully curved elm armrests and legs that flow continuously around the upholstered body. The sweeping lines of the frame give the chairs a light and refined appearance, while the generous seat and high backrest provide excellent comfort.

The chairs have been reupholstered at a later date in a rich golden velour fabric with a decorative floral pattern. The warm tone of the upholstery complements the honey-coloured elm beautifully and gives the pair a distinctive, luxurious character.

A particularly attractive example of early Danish design, combining expressive organic lines with fine cabinetmaking and comfortable proportions. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
