Charming mirror known as a "Huguenot" or "side panel" mirror, a highly prized model of 19th-century French furniture, inspired by Dutch and French mirrors of the Grand Siècle.

It consists of a wooden frame adorned with repoussé and chased brass plates, richly decorated in the Rococo style: scrolls, acanthus leaves, and beaded friezes run all around the central beveled glass. The broad pediment is crowned with a shell motif and adorned in its center with a basket of fruit (bunch of grapes, pears, apples) surrounded by openwork scrolls and foliage, with a second shell at the bottom of the pediment.

On either side of the central pane of glass are the "parecloses" (padded side panels and a mirror on the pediment, characteristic of this type of mirror). The mercury glass shows slight oxidation at the edges (speckles/speckles visible at the top of the mirror), which is perfectly normal and even desirable on this type of antique piece, attesting to its authenticity.
