Rare pair of sculptural ceramic candleholders designed by Finnish-born designer Liisi Beckmann for Gabbianelli in Italy during the 1970s.
Made from glazed ceramic, the candleholders feature a deep petrol to midnight blue finish and a distinctive sculptural form. A cylindrical base supports the rounded upper element, creating a compact composition that is both functional and highly decorative.
The design reflects the experimental approach to form and ceramics that characterized Italian Radical Design during the 1970s, while Beckmann’s sculptural sensibility gives the pieces a particularly refined presence.
Both examples bear the Gabbianelli mark on the base. Offered as a matching pair, they work beautifully together on a dining table, console or shelf, where their glossy dark blue glaze and geometric volumes create a strong visual accent.
