Originally created as a utilitarian vessel—possibly a large mortar, agricultural vessel, or butter churn—it now makes an exceptional umbrella or walking-stick stand and a wonderfully sculptural decorative object.

The substantial form retains beautiful evidence of hand workmanship, including irregular carving, tool marks, natural checking, worn edges, and a rich, time-developed brown patina. Unlike a coopered barrel or traditional churn constructed from individual staves, the body and flared upper portion are carved from one continuous piece of timber.

Beautiful antique condition with extensive age-appropriate wear, staining, checking, abrasions and surface irregularities consistent with its utilitarian history. Wood species unknown.
