A striking Wedgwood vase in the Chinoiserie style, its double-gourd body finished in a rich yellow ground and hand-decorated in underglaze blue with a Chinese-style dragon amid clouds, above a band of crashing waves at the base. The flared trumpet neck is banded in blue and white with a floral and scrollwork border.
Marked on the base with Wedgwood's printed "Dragon / Wedgwood / Etruria England" backstamp, along with a handwritten inventory number ("M693") and a paper label reading "Richard Dennis Wedgwood Exhibition, 1982" — Richard Dennis being a well-established London dealer and publisher specializing in ceramics scholarship, which suggests this piece passed through a notable collection or exhibition history.
