Made of cast metal, most likely brass. (Metal is not attracted to a magnet)

Period: 19th century with scrolls and acanthus leaves. (Victorian, Rococo or Renaissance Revival style)

Fan-shaped pen rest / accessory holder in base, openwork lattice grid, and sculptural back panel to hold letters.

Original antique mounting hardware including square nuts.

The letters DEP are barely readable and may refer to depose’ indicating a possibility of French origin. No other obvious maker's marks evident except for a few numbers possibly indicating pattern numbers.

Surface wear as seen in pictures. Original patina has not been cleaned or polished.

Two small holes are present on back panel between the animal heads. We do not know what purpose they may have served, most likely a form of pen rest.

Does not include any other parts or accessories.

Measures approximately 11 1/2 inches long, 4 1/2 inches tall, and 8 3/4 inches deep. Each of the two ink pots have interior dimensions of approximately 1 3/8 inches across.

Weighs approximately 3 pounds, 3 ounces by itself.
