The "Max le Chinois" colander, produced by the Italian company Alessi and designed by French designer Philippe Starck in 1990, is made of 18/10 stainless steel (polished on the outside and satin-finished on the inside) and rests on three sturdy gold-plated cast brass feet.
The draining holes playfully depict stylized faces with smiling faces and animal-like ears. Although originally intended as a colander and pasta strainer, it can also be used as a wine and champagne cooler or as an elegant fruit centerpiece.
