The back is drawn with two horizontal rails between uprights turned on the lathe and finished with a ball, a vocabulary Dudouyt used throughout his rustic work. The seats are woven in rush by hand. What sets this suite apart is the patina: deep, warm, unevenly worn where hands and chair backs have passed, the kind of surface only decades of use produce. The wood has been treated and every chair is sound and steady on its feet. The rush has mellowed to a soft honey but remains complete, with no holes.
