Vintage functional salesman sample of the Hamilton Manufacturing Company “Auto-Shift Table.” Produced during the 1950s, the miniature model demonstrates the design and mechanical capabilities of the full-size drafting table.
The sample features a painted metal frame fitted with wood writing and drawing surfaces. Its working mechanism includes spring-loaded lifting action and an adjustable tilting upper surface, demonstrating how the original table could be configured for drafting, writing, or other technical work.
Founded in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, by J.E. Hamilton in 1880, Hamilton Manufacturing Company initially produced wood type before expanding into cabinets, furniture, and other industrial products. This detailed model reflects the company's combination of practical engineering and mid-century design.
